Targeting joint inflammation for osteoarthritis management through stimulus-sensitive hyaluronic acid based intra-articular hydrogels

چکیده
Numerous therapeutic strategies have been developed for osteoarthritis (OA) management, including intra-articular (IA) injections. The ideal IA formulation should control cartilage degradation and restore synovial fluid viscosity. To this end, we propose to combine thermo-sensitive polymers (poloxamers) with hyaluronic acid (HA) develop suitable beta-lapachone (βLap) loaded formulations. development of formulations these components entails several difficulties: low βLap solubility, unknown dose the bonded commitment easy administration viscosupplementation. An optimized was designed using artificial intelligence tools based on experimental results a wide variety hydrogels its capacity evaluated an ex vivo OA model. presented excellent rheological properties significantly decreased secretion degradative (MMP13) pro-inflammatory (CXCL8) molecules. Therefore, is promising candidate treatment restoring while decreasing inflammation degradation.

Intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections for knee osteoarthritis.
Knee osteoarthritis is a common but often difficult problem to manage in primary care. Traditional nonsurgical management, consisting of lifestyle modification, physical therapy and pharmacologic therapy (e.g., analgesics, anti-inflammatory medications), is often ineffective or leaves residual symptoms. Viscosupplementation is a newly available option for patients with symptomatic knee osteoart...
متن کاملIntra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid for temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis in elderly patients.
BACKGROUND Preliminary findings gave encouraging results for the use of hyaluronic acid in temporomandibular joints with inflammatory/degenerative processes. This investigation aimed at evaluating retrospectively the efficacy of intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid in elderly patients (aged >65 years) with osteoarthritis of the temporomandibular joint as compared with those of a group ...
متن کاملTherapeutic Efficacy of Intra-Articular Hyaluronic Acid in Osteoarthritis Knee
Osteoarthritis (OA) is an increasingly important public health problem [1]. It is slowly progressive, can cause symptoms ranging from mild to disabiling. Osteoarthritis is a common cause of knee pain especially in the elderly. It is characterised by loss of articular cartilage, subchondral sclerosis, joint deterioration and osteophyte formation [1]. The current treatment for knee OA consists of...
